(a) Maintain all its records duly catalogued and indexed in manner and the form which facilitates the right to information under this Act and ensure that all records that are appropriate to be computerised are, within a reasonable time and subject to availabililty of resources, computerised and connected through a network all over the country on different systems so that access to such records is facilitated;
(b) (i) Particulars of Organisation, Functions and Duties
The main functions of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums Department to carry out the Archaeological Excavations/Exploration, Protection and Conservation of Ancient Monuments and Sites, Chemical preservation of Antiquities, Publication/Publicity, Setting up of Zonal Museums, Organizing exhibitions and selling of plaster casts and replicas of ancient sculptures to acquaint the general public with their archaeological heritage. Provide research facilities in the archaeology field to bonafide reasearch scholars. The Directorate is headed by Directorate is headed by Director of Archaeology & Museums Department Haryana, Chandigarh who is assisted by Deputy Director, Assistant Director, Numismatic Officer, Curator in technical matters, Accounts officer in financial matters, and by Superintendent in Administrative matters.
The functions and duties of the department:-
(a) To carry out the archaeological excavations/exploration
(b) Protection and conservation of ancient monuments and sites,
(c) Chemical preservation of Antiquities, publication/publicity,
(d) Setting up of museums, organizing exhibitions
(e) Selling of plaster casts and replicas of ancient sculptures to acquaint the general public with their archaeological heritage.
(f) Provide research facilities in the archaeology field to bonafide research scholars.
(g) The Department and Its officers/employees are discharging their functions and duties in accordance with relevant rules and regulations.
(iii) Procedures followed in the decision making process, including channels of supervision and accountability.
The decisions are taken strictly in accordance with the policies framed by the government of Haryana and rules & Regulation on the subject. The dealing hand deals with the case and submits to the superintendent (current duty charge). After scrutiny, the case he sends the case to Assistant Director, Assistant District Attorney, Accounts Officer, Deputy Director who will examine the case to send it to the Director/Additional Chief Secretary for final approval.
iv) The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions.
- The cases are dealt within the prescribed period and according to the rules, regulations and instructions of the Haryana Government.
(v) The rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records, held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions.
