The colorful exhibition organized by Department of Archaeology and Museums Haryana of Teej Utsav at Panipat held on 19th August 2023 was enjoyed by many people who were enthusiastic culture lovers and  they also viewed glimpses of the sculptural collection along with other artefacts of Department. Honorable Chief Minister, Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal, with Additional Principal Secretary to CM, Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, IAS  and D.C Panipat and ADC Panipat graced the occasion and appreciated the exhibition.

2.   Bhima Devi Workshop

The Department of Archaeology and Museums, Haryana conducted a Two-Day workshop on Heritage Learning and Iconography of Sculptures on 4th and 5th July 2019 at Bhima Devi Temple Complex Site Museum, Pinjore. Participants observed Sculptural art of the Site Museum and Complex. After the interaction session, an educative walk inside the complex was conducted and thereafter children explored the gallery collection on their own. The workshop emphasized on learning about Iconography of Sculptures on site and involved doing trail worksheets based on their understanding from interactive sessions.

 3. The Department of Archaeology and Museums Haryana conducted a 5-day workshop on Masonry Building Conservation, Principles and Techniques from 29.07.2019 to 02.08.2019 at PWD Rest House, Panchkula.

First of its kind, this workshop was a collaborative effort that brought experts, practitioners, and students on a common platform to share their expertise, views, and queries about conservation aspects of structures and collections all over India. The panel of speakers comprised of people who are working in this field extensively and creatively, ensuring minimal intervention with structure of monument and still enhancing its life and visibility for generations to come.

The participants attended lectures, did hands on activities and practical sessions based on the theme of workshop. There were site visits to Nahan Kothi, Panchkula; Buddhist Stupa, Chaneti, Yamunanagar and Bhima Devi Temple Complex, Pinjore, Panchkula during the workshop.

 4. A Three day workshop for children on Harappan Seal Making and Terracotta Replica Making was conducted at Jahaj Kothi Zonal Museum, Hisar, from 22nd to 24th November 2019. Children participated with full enthusiasm and the sessions with brainstorming ideas created a wonderful interaction throughout.

 Museum exploration and visit was done for the practical activities. Terracotta replicas and Harappan seals were made with creative inputs and thoughts by children indicating collection of archaeological sites in Haryana. In the process of learning children enjoyed the museum ambience and took back with them lovely samples of moulded replicas and certificates that had seals as an indication of the theme and purpose of this endeavour.

 Department team members and venue staff were all around enabling these young museum enthusiasts to enjoy this hands-on session on archaeological learning. This was in coordination with celebration of World Heritage Week 2019.

 5. Department of Archaeology and Museums, Haryana participated at Geeta Mahotsav-2019, 3rd to 8th December 2019 in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The kiosk, Stall no. 35 had temporary exhibition setup displaying Sites and Monuments, collection of department, souvenirs and replicas that proved to be popular among all varieties of visitors and received a good footfall.

The Department of Archaeology and Museums, Haryana participated in Exhibition in International Saraswati Mahotsav at Pehowa, Haryana from 27th to 29th January 2020. The 3- day temporary exhibition display comprised of archaeological data related to existence of traces of river Saraswati in Haryana’s sites, and along with this the collection and highlights of Department were shown. The visitors to the display area were inquisitive to see the heritage which lies around them and how the department has been safeguarding them. The State Archaeological Department, Haryana is taking the initiative to protect as well as promote Haryana’s legacy for generations to come.

6.Special Cover Release

On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras on 13 November 2020, the first Special Cover (Philatelic Souvenir) themed on Rakhigarhi archaeological site was released by Hon'ble CM, Haryana. This is first Special cover of Department of Archaeology and Museums Haryana State Archaeology, in collaboration with Chandigarh GPO. The Special Cover with cancellation designed in form of seal is first of its kind and the Cover reflects designs chosen from archaeological collection of Rakhigarhi.
