Banwali, District Fatehabad

  Archaeological  excavatioin at  this  proto-historic site from the year 1974 to 1977  brought
  to light a pre-Indus and  Indus  township  and other  material  including  beads and  bangles 
  of semi-precious stones, copper ornaments and tools, steatite seals, terracotta sealing, toys  
  and  ornaments  blades and  weights of  Chart and agate etc. along  with  a large variety  of  
  pottery of 3rd millennium B. C. The discovery of un-usual Indus  town  planning, first mother 
  goddess  terracotta  figurine in  independent   India and a  beautiful  terracotta replica of 
  a plough  brought  this  site on the map of National Improtance. The Archaeological survey of 
  India has taken over this site under the protection. 

Agroha, District Hisar

  Agroha, so-called  capital of  the  legendary  king  Maharaja  Agrasen of Agrawal Community, 
  was excavated from 1979  to1984. This  historical site  yielded a continous cultural equence 
  form C 5-4th Century B. C. To C.15th Century A. D.The discovery of the historical  fertified 
  town with a meat  arong established  a  rich cultural  legacy.The remains of a Buddist Stupa 
  and a Hindu Temple side by side in the Center of  the Town  and oceans of both the religions 
  are sufficient  to throw light on the religious harmony and beliefs of the people of  bygene 
  age of this  site. The important antiquities recovered from these excavations include silver 
  and  copper coins.Stone sculptures  terracotta  play things and  sealings. Beads and bangles 
  of glass. Shell  and semi  precious tones etc.

Kunal, District Fatehabad

  The credit of  discovery of  the site goes to  the Archeologists  of  this department in the 
  year 1981. The  Archeological  excavations at  this pre-Harappan  site of 5000 years old was 
  started in the year 1986 and is continue till date with a few field-season's gap of the year 
  1992-93, 1996-97, 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. Three successive phases of 
  occupation from pit dwelling  to that of square and  rectangular mud brick houses have  come 
  to light and are supposed to  be the  earliest remains  of  pre-Harappan  culture in India.A 
  hoard of regalia item  including  six  gold  beads of a necklace, an armlet and a few bangle 
  pieces and 12445 beads of semi-precious stones is first of its kind.It makes the whole gamut 
  of luxury items as 'richest' when seen in the context of  rural nature of settlement of 3000 
  BC one of the  important  contributions of this site is the discovery  of steatite and shell 
  seals, which are the earliest example  of  seal manufacturing in India so for.The results of 
  these excavations were extremely significant which led to the formation of Harappan culture.
  At the same time,the first time  discovery of steatite seals and regalia items from the pre-
  Harappan level added a  new dimension to the Indian  history and  archaeology of this region 
  particularly.

Sugh, District Yamunanagar

  The ancient site of Sugh (Amadalpur) near Jagadhari enjoyed a considerable importance during 
  early historical  times  when it was known a Shrughna. This city ranks high in importance in 
  early literature like Mahabharata, Taibareya Aranyaka and Buddhist text like  Mahamayuri and 
  Divyavadana. It also finds mention in the travel account of the Chinese  Pilgrim Hiuen Tsang 
  of early 7th Centure A.D.Preliminary  excavations in 1989-99 and a few  trail excavation in 
  the previous  seasons have yielded a four fold cultural sequence of  habitation from C. 8th 
  Century  B.C. to C. 11th Century A.D. This site is well known  among the archaeologists and 
  art lovers for the fascinating and beautiful terracotta art of C. 1st Century B.C. to C 3rd 
  Century A.D. extensive  excavations at this site will throw ample  light on the history and 
  culture of this area of the State.

Khokhrakot, District Rohtak

  Khokhrakot,the capital city of Yaudheyas,a Republic of historical period is presently converted 
  into  a  huge mound near Rohtak. This centrally protected site was excavated by this department 
  in collaboration  with the department of History of M.D. University, Rohtak for continous three 
  field seasons from 1988 to 1990. The  excavations at this site  have yielded  terracotta  seals 
  and  sealings, coins  moulds, silver  and  copper coins, copper and iron implements, stone 
  sculptures etc.  alongwith  backed  brick houses  and  pottery of B.C. to 11th Century A.D.This 
  project could not be resumed due to untimely demise of the excavation Director from the 
  University side.

Field Training

  Field training of archaeological excavations was also imported to the M.A. (Archaeology) students 
  of the following universities at the site shown against their names:-

  1.	Agroha - Punjab University, Chandigarh 
  2.	Kunal - Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra
  3.	Sugh - Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
